I AMSTERDAM SIGN
In the heart of Amsterdam, in the Museumplein, is a fantastic 'climbing frame' for your children to explore. Well, it's not actually a climbing frame, but the Dutch seem perfectly comfortable with children using it as one. (And their parents too, if they so wish.) If you're planning a trip to the Rijksmuseum, or to the Van Gogh Museum, both of which are close by, and both of which we visited during our Road School trip, then leave a bit of extra time so you can visit the sign as well. The moment that your children see that other people are climbing on the giant "i amsterdam" letters, and they realise that they are allowed to climb on them too, then you will have to literally drag them off to get them to do something more cultural. We viewed the sign as a kind of impromptu PE lesson.
The i amsterdam sign is a fabulous place to take photographs, especially if your child has a name beginning with one of the letters of the sign. Alfie and Edith were sorted. If your kid is named Zack or Zelda, they are out of luck.
