One of our goals during our Road School trip was to visit as many places associated with Leonardo da Vinci as we could. This was because our daughter was (and still is) completely fascinated by Leonardo the person, his works, and his life story. The Leonardo Museum is in Vinci, just outside Florence, and close to the birthplace of Leonardo. It features models of his drawings, including flying models, tanks, a bicycle and even an early diving suit. The museum is lovely - small, simple and informative. The children were fascinated to see his models brought to life.
After touring the inside of the museum, you can climb up onto the roof of the building, from where you get a lovely view out over the rolling Tuscan hills towards Florence. You can also visit Leonardo's birthplace which is very close to Vinci.
